Research Interests

I am currently Professor of Signal Processing and Communications at the Institute for Digital Communications, in the School of Engineering. My main research interests are in:

I currently participate in Core 5 Delivery Efficiency programme of the Mobile Virtual Centre of Excellence

Learned Society Activities

I am involved in a number of activities with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE):

I am a member of and currently the local student counsellor for the IET. I am also the local liaison officer for the UK Communications Chapter of the IEEE.


Teaching Activities

I am a co-author, along with Peter Grant and Bernard Mulgrew, of the second edition of book entitled "Digital Signal Processing: Concepts and Applications". More information can be found here.

I am currently an external examiner at the University of Dundee and at the University of Strathclyde.

I used to work with Andrew McCormick, a post-doctoral researcher. Whilst at Edinburgh, he wrote a Java based tutorial on OFDM, which can be found here.
